Seems sort of apropos doesn’t it?) Dump coated cereal into the bag and shake vigorously. Pour confectioner’s sugar into a bag (an old fashioned brown paper bag is perfect for this, but if you don’t have one, use a trash bag. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white chocolate chips with the teaspoon of canola oil until melted and smooth. Pour over over cereal and mix carefully until well coated. In a large mixing bowl, combine the Chex cereal, pretzels, salted peanuts, and M&Ms. You could just drop it off in the middle of the night on their doorstep signed, “Secret Santa.”Īnyway! Like I said, it’s easy! There are many versions of the recipe to boot, but here’s a favorite. Break into small pieces, store in an air-tight container and refrigerate to keep fresh. Spread the mixture onto wax paper and cool. Slowly pour the chocolate over the cereal mixture and stir to evenly coat. White Trash is a mixture of cereals and pretzels coated in almond bark or white chocolate chips and tossed in white sugar. They will begin to stalk you once you introduce them to it. In a large bowl, combine cereals, pretzels, peanuts and candy coated chocolates. All you have to do is get some of those decorative plastic bags, or pop-up boxes, ribbon, make this (takes minutes) and you’ve got yourself a homemade, tasty treat to share with friends, family and neighbors. It’s GREAT for sharing, and anyone who’s ever tried it will swoon at your feet. And a darn good one if I say so myself.Īnd while I’m at the name thing, let’s list all the ones it goes by, the one I’m most familiar with being first on the list: I mean, just like what the title says…it’s not Christmas without it.Īdmittedly, this is probably not considered being politically correct, but, hey, how ’bout we go with the idea this isn’t about someone’s lifestyle, but a treat. Don’t I share this every year? I can’t remember, but if I don’t, it ought to be a tradition out here on the blog. If you look closely at the sprinkles, there are teeniney Christmas trees and stars in the mix! I picked these up at Home Goods this weekend if anyone wants to look for them.On another blog a writer friend said she wished she could send all of us a big bag of Texas Trash – which made me realize it was time for me to share my own version – White Trash. Since it's Christmastime now, I made this batch with red and green holiday M&M's and THE CUTEST Christmas sprinkles. Or just make it with regular M&M’s if you’re making it for just any old regular day! Step 4: Take the plastic bag and fill it with the powdered sugar. Add in the warm mixture of white chocolate chips, butter and peanut butter. Step 3: Pour the cereal mix into a large bowl. You can tailor this recipe for any holiday! Just use M&M’s for whichever holiday is in season and coordinating sprinkles (the sprinkles are optional but fun for the kiddos). Step 2: Add in the vanilla essence, stir a bit more and turn the stove off.

Of course, I grew up knowing quite a bit of white trash too, so maybe that wasn’t the best choice either. So, I just decided to call this White Chocolate Trash to be safe. I grew up in a small, rural town and actually knew quite a few crackheads… and… there was nothing merry and bright about their addiction. Spread pretzels, corn chips, cereal, and Oreos on a wax paper lined cookie sheet.

I think Terri actually calls hers Christmas Crack but I’m not sure I love the idea of putting those two words together. 1 package white chocolate almond bark or Candy melts. This goes by several different names: Christmas Crack, White Trash, White Chocolate Chex Mix and combinations of the same.
